Scrabster Ferry Terminal is located in Scrabster on the North coast of Scotland, 1½ miles from Thurso, 22½ miles from Wick and 112 miles from Inverness. For those who prefer a shorter sailing time of just 90 minutes the Scrabster – Stromness route is ideal. Many people wish to take advantage of the spectacular views of the Old Man of Hoy, and St John’s Head, which can only be seen on this route. Scarbster Ferry Terminal does not have its own car park, however there is a long stay car park situated 400m from the terminal, operated by Scrabster Harbour Trust, who can be contacted on +44 (0) 1847 892779. The cost is £10 for 1 to 14 days. Please allow ten minutes to walk back. In addition, for a short stay, there is a limited shared parking including disabled spaces at the end of the building.
Scrabster Ferry Terminal has a lift from the ground floor to the first floor waiting area, accessible toilets on both floors of the foot passenger terminal, and a Changing Places toilet. The lift has a mirror, visual floor indicator, audible announcer, Braille markings, and tactile markings. Staff can provide wheelchair assistance, luggage assistance, sighted guiding, priority boarding, and BSL support. A hearing loop is available at the vehicle check-in. Sunflower Lanyards are available free of charge, wheelchairs can be borrowed for the journey between terminal and ferry, and assistance dogs are welcomed. Scrabster Ferry Terminal is NorthLink Ferries' mainland departure point for the Pentland Firth crossing to Orkney. Located on Queen Elizabeth Pier, 1.5 miles from Thurso on the north coast of Scotland, it serves the MV Hamnavoe sailing to Stromness (90 minutes). The terminal has two distinct areas: the vehicle check-in building and the foot passenger terminal further along the pier (800m apart). The foot passenger terminal has ticket sales, a waiting area on the first floor, a lift, and toilets on both floors. Facilities and toilets are only accessible during office opening hours.
